Charitable and Green

Our activities in the community and wider world

At R M Smith Fencing Ltd we understand how important it is to support others and we enjoy giving help financially or otherwise to local good causes.

We have become a Gold Sponsor of the Ringwood Carnival and were happy to donate some very smart white plastic temporary fencing for the VIP area.  And how proud we were when Ryan’s daughter Cassidy was selected as Carnival Princess!  As always, the lorry was donated for use to the Ringwood Infant School for their float entry into the Carnival and was driven expertly by Lyndon.  Floats have ranged from penguin themed, to gnomed themed to ‘Where’s Wally?’!

This year, Janine’s son Mason (aged fourteen) shaved his head for charity and raised over £3000!  R M Smith Fencing Ltd were very pleased to give Mason a donation towards that total – Murray Walker even made an appearance at the shave!

We are proud to have supported two Ringwood Comprehensive School pupils to visit Kenya to carry out work in local communities, and have supported the school with their Christmas Ball.  This year The Burgate School and Sixth Form will receive support for their production of Grease – tickets on sale in December 2017.

Three company members, Neil, Lorrae and Janine, undertook the Three Peaks 24 Hour Challenge with the support of R M Smith Fencing Ltd and raised just under £1500 for a local charity —what a fantastic sum!  Janine also ran the Brighton Marathon and with further support from R.M.Smith Fencing Ltd, raised a further fantastic amount.

Once again this year we took a ‘tea date’ at the renowned Wimborne St Giles Teas, held every Sunday from March to October from 3-5pm, in the quintessentially English setting of the village hall in Wimborne St Giles.  We have raised several thousand over the years we have been doing it for a number of different charities !  Last year, our best ever, we raised £700 and with the ‘match’ donation from Lloyds Bank Plc of a further £500, we were able to give £1,200 to Julia’s House in Wimborne.  This year, again with the help of Lloyds Bank Plc, we have donated £1,050 to the Ringwood and Fordingbridge Blind Club.  Other years have seen the Children’s Heart Foundation and Woofability (assistance dogs for the disabled) benefit from the funds raised.  Watch this space for the 2018 date and come and support us!
